Djembe Drumming – African Drum Circles

At School Of Percussion we offer one to one and group tuition on African djembes and other world percussion instruments. Our lessons are tailored for adults and children or anyone who is interested in hand drumming. You will experience the magic of music making and the joy of drumming; all levels of experience are welcome from the beginning beginner to the more experienced player.

We supply all the drums and stands so even if you don’t have your own drums it’s no problem, we use top of the range high quality Toca African djembes all lightweight and all different sizes to suit all needs.

A School Of Percussion drum circle is an interactive experience where students will learn the language of the drum and how to make their drum sing.We use a technique that makes it fun and easy to learn.

We use it as an interactive experience to facilitate community, build spirit and promote a sense of wellbeing, in our drum circles everyone participates by contributing their own individual sounds into a musical composition. Drumming has been proven to build team spirit, increase morale, increase productivity, reduce stress, and increase confidence.

We specialise in the yoga of drumming, concentrating on breathing and relaxing while drumming.

Drumming is proven to lower blood pressure, burn calories, help with sleep and overall is just healthy fun.

Based on a study by the medical science monitor, it was proven that people who play music in their free time have genetic reversals to stress.
