The great thing about drumming is anybody can learn, regardless of their age, gender, or skill level. This is especially true when you choose to be taught by a professional percussionist with experience of teaching as well as performing around the world. School of Percussion fits the bill perfectly. That is why we pleased to say we can offer drum lessons in Yarm for everyone.
Why learn to play drums?
Percussion is all about timing, coordination and concentration. These are three things that are beneficial in countless other aspects of life. You can improve in all three areas by learning the drums. In addition the instrument is a great way to explore your creativity and work towards a goal. Whether you plan to be a performing musician or just want an engaging hobby, you won’t regret giving it a try.
What will you learn?
Drum lessons are tailored to suit your goals. For example they can be based on giving you the skills to progress through the official grades, from 1 to 8. If you are not looking at grading, you can learn skills for performing, including how to drum in various different styles.
A typical drum programme will include:
- Rudimentaries of drumming
- Mastering your grip and thinking about posture
- Improving coordination
- Sight reading
- Techniques for practising
- Useful exercises to improve your drumming
- Performing and playing live
How does the tuition work?
The great thing about learning with us is lessons are always one to one in your own home. You can decide whether to opt for hour-long or half hour sessions. More importantly we can schedule them to suit any requirements and commitments.
Every lesson is delivered by Steve Blakeburn, a highly trained percussionist with a wealth of experience and knowledge. That means you can learn tips and exercises from a drummer who has played all around the world and achieved a 100% pass rate for learners taking grading.
When you want to enjoy fun and engaging drum lessons in Yarm there is nobody better than School of Percussion. We work hard to support new and experienced drummers, helping them to set goals and work towards achieving them.
